A few weeks ago we posted a story about local doctor, Khaled Diab MD, and his devotion to helping Life Tackled get more masks made. Today we share his triumphant return to the front lines to continue his battle against Covid. Reported by CBS 12.

Local doctor Khaled Diab, MD recently invested in Life Tackled Inc allowing us to procure further mask making supplies for the coming weeks.
"It's not enough, it's not nearly enough" responds Diab when asked about the recent airlifted supplies being brought to the US. A doctor a the giant Memorial Regional in Hollywood, FL Diab contracted Covid-19 at an unknown point while treating a myriad of positive patients. He isn't angry. He accepts this is what comes with the job and is currently in self-isolation at home being treated every few days by a traveling paramedic who comes in full gear. Thankfully Diab's symptoms are mild and he is doing ok but that won't be the luck for everyone who contracts Covid-19. "I'm investing because I believe in this company (Life Tackled) and their mission of making quality masks available to the public as well as medical facilities. This isn't a joke. I want to stress the importance of wearing a mask to prevent the transmission of this virus as well as following other CDC guidelines. I cannot stress that enough," states Diab via phone conversation. The LT team is heeding his warnings by ramping up our filter production for our buyers as well as offering SILVADUR (an antimicrobial agent) moisture resistant masks with CoolMax to medical facilities for bulk purchase. Most important, and we can't stress this enough, please stay home and follow CDC guidelines so we can beat this disease. Lastly we thank the community for buying from us, your purchase allows multiple families on our team an income, allowing them to keep food on the table during this uncertain time. Be well. The LT Team For the this method we have been using Tide or Woolite for the spray. If you cannot find that please use the washing method. Alternatively you can lookup solution mixtures online.
Legally we must remind you that no mask can guarantee defense against disease but studies show even a handkerchief will keep out around 20% microns (a N95 will keep out around 95%) so protection is always recommended . As always follow CDC recommendations and protocols. Be well. Please comment any questions. If you bought one of our Lilly mask please know the ink will fade with each wash.

At 26 years old most women are focused on building their careers and/or families with cancer being the last thing on their mind and Dr. Bridget Glazarov of New York was certainly no exception. At 26 Dr. Bridget was already working her dream career as a dentist in one of the biggest cities in the world, New York. While in the middle of working and attending a special residency program doctors noticed an enormous 10cm tumor and diagnosed Glazarov with Stage 3 breast cancer, it was a diagnosis that hit her like a ton of bricks. "As a medical professional I'm always on the lookout for any signs of cancer in patients, especially oral cancer, but for myself? It just never occurred to me to check, it's always been patient care that comes first." Glazarov responds when asked if she was aware of women getting diagnosed with breast cancer at such a young age. And she isn't alone. According to the American Cancer Society the stakes are phenomenally lower for the 20 year age group compared to the 30 year age group. Meaning? 1 in 1,567 women in their twenties will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer while 1 in 220 will be diagnosed with it in their thirties. That's a HUGE difference and that difference means it's not getting talked about as much. Which is why Glazarov has taken to social media to spread the word about self-checks and screenings, especially for the 20 year age group. "It's such a cliche but if it can happen to me it can happen to the girl next-door or your best friend on Oregon. Yes the chances are lower but 1 in 1,567 still adds up to a lot of women who may miss a diagnosis simply because they think they are too young or don't check." says Glazarov. Here at Life Tackled we did the research and the numbers, with over 21+ million women between the ages of 20-29 in the US alone that means over 13,401+ women in their twenties are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and you can bet most didn't see it coming or ever check. Which is why Dr. Bridget's message for self-care is so important. 13,401 may not seem like a whole lot but to the women fighting cancer its already 13,401 too many. As we end this article we invite you to learn more about Dr. Bridget Glazarov by visiting her website www.drbridget.com If you are in the NYC area we encourage you to make an appointment with her for a dental checkup and oral cancer screening. Judging from the outside and her beautiful beaming smile you would never know the struggles that Erin Abay has been through since she was a baby and that’s just how she likes it. She does not let her medical issues define her. Residing in a small town not far from Dallas, Texas 28 year old Abay lives with her husband Mike and their ridiculously adorable fur baby, a shih-tzu named, Ducky.
Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis by 18 month old Erin’s failure to thrive continued with chronic ear infections, digestive issues, asthma, as well as becoming a diabetic by the age of 12. To top it all off, she had to live with an ostomy bag as a teenager after a medicine that she had taken for her digestive issues caused a problem that destroyed her colon. Thankfully at 15 she had the ostomy reversed but she never forgot how difficult having the bag was which is why she reached out to us on social media after our initial interview aired. Even though she no longer had a bag Erin was thrilled to see a company finally doing something about the lack of medical friendly clothing. Each one of our products has a story behind it, all of them are unique and inspiring and sometimes we’re able to share them. Today Megan is allowing us to share hers. On her 26th birthday Megan was diagnosed with a rare eye cancer, Ciliary Body Melanoma, naturally she was floored. Who gets cancer at 26? She was as young mom, daughter, married with a career. Luckily the prognoses was good and she made a full recovery. The re-occurrence rate was so small she wasn’t worried, no way she’d be that 3% and as the years passed so did her angst over it returning. Sure there were a few bumps like divorce along the way but no cancer in sight. Some of those bumps were actual bumps and by the time she reached 30 her brood grew to 3 amazing, happy and healthy boys. Like any mother she loved her boys and wouldn’t trade them for the world but she still had that nagging feeling that all mothers of boys get-she wanted a little girl. Boys were fun but with a girl you get to experience different adventures. One of our inspirations and favorite clients shared a video with us showing exactly why our products are needed and today we are sharing it with you! Your continued support is what keeps the heartbeat of our company going! We are so proud of our girl Kenzie for not letting anything stop her. Back in the fall she lost part of her leg in a scheduled amputation due to a past accident not healing, doctors said it would be a few months until they could get her a prosthetic made but amazingly enough that hasn't stopped Kenzie at all! She has taken up baseball and gymnastics and we are so amazed to watch her go out and tackle life. Last week she was finally fitted with her prosthetic and we cannot wait to see her accomplish even more of her dreams! Thanks for letting us be a part of your care and journey Kenz! It’s been awhile since we’ve updated you guys and that’s because we’ve been busy hitting hospitals from NY to FL to find out what current patient needs are. The latest needs being met? Colostomy and ileostomy bags.
In case you’re lucky enough to not know what they’re for they are used by people who are unable to get rid of their own, um stuff, therefor the intestines empty into these bags. Sounds gross? Well it’s a fact of life for our patients and they are sick of going out to run errands only to be self conscious. Which is why we designed the dress below. Fashionable yet functional it allows the wearer to go out into public wearing something cute while the inside pockets are lined and sealed allow the bag and what comes with it to hide safely away. We can’t wait to see what our testers think of it! What do you think of it? |
